This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app does and does not collect. The short version: we don't collect any personal information, from you or your child, ever.
Nothing that identifies you or your child. Reef Rescue has no sign-up, no login, no account of any kind, and no way to enter a name, email address, photo, or any other personal information anywhere in the app.
To remember progress between sessions, the app saves a small amount of gameplay data directly on your device (using browser local storage) — for example:
This gameplay information never leaves your device, is never sent to us or anyone else, and is not linked to you or your child in any way. Uninstalling the app deletes it completely. Because we never receive this data, there is nothing for us to access, sell, share, or delete on our end — there's simply nothing stored anywhere but your own device. The single exception is the purchase check described below, which sends no gameplay data at all.
Reef Rescue offers optional one-time purchases (extra oceans, an "Explorer Pass") that unlock additional content. Every purchase requires a grown-up to solve a math check first, so a child cannot buy anything alone.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store — we never see or store your payment information (card numbers, billing address, etc.). To verify that a purchase went through and unlock the right content, the app uses RevenueCat, a third-party service that receives only an anonymous device/purchase identifier and which product was bought — never a name, email, or other personal information. You can review RevenueCat's own privacy policy at the link above.
So that a purchase can't be faked, the app also asks our own server to confirm it. It sends one thing: the anonymous purchase identifier RevenueCat created for that installation. Our server uses it to ask RevenueCat which products were actually bought, and replies with that list. No name, email, device details, location or gameplay data is sent, nothing is written down or stored on our side, and the identifier cannot be traced back to a person. This happens only when a purchase is made or restored, and once when the app starts.
Reef Rescue is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13, there is no personal information to notify a parent about, obtain consent for, or provide access to. Every purchase is gated behind a parent-only math check specifically so a child cannot make purchases unsupervised.
If this app's data practices ever change (for example, if a future version adds an optional account or online feature), this page will be updated first, with the change clearly summarized here, before that feature ships.
25 August 2026: added the server-side purchase check described under "In-app purchases". It sends an anonymous purchase identifier and nothing else, and exists to stop purchases being faked.
